Right on trend at the moment, Banana Leaf Interior Decorating will transform an ordinary space into one filled with the richness of the tropical jungles and rainforests.  Tropical leaf prints rise and fall in popularity, but come back over and over again.  And for good reason.  The deep greens against cream and white can bring lushness to an otherwise plain space.  Green is perfect to add a pop of colour to, so if you also love red, pink, yellow or orange, then feel free to add some colour to the leaf motif trend.  I remember loving Blanche’s bedroom in the 80’s sitcom The Golden Girls – huge banana leaves in that classically tropical design.

The leaf motif originated in 1942 with interior designer, Don Loper when he decorated the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Fountain Coffee Room.  To bring in the breezy tropics to the ocean facing coffee shop, Loper created the pattern that is still trending today.  The pattern Loper created was called Martinique.  Celebrated Architect William T Georgis is a big fan, and his lushly decorated Palm Beach apartment shows how it’s done best:
